FR-44 Insurance

An FR-44 is Florida’s filing after a DUI conviction. It is not insurance: it is proof your carrier sends the state that you hold the higher liability the law now requires. We place the policy and make the filing.

Questions we are asked.

If yours is not here, call the office. Someone will pick up.

What is an FR-44?

Florida’s filing after a DUI conviction. It is not insurance; it is a certificate your carrier files with the state proving you carry the liability coverage the law now requires. We place the policy and the carrier makes the filing.

How is an FR-44 different from an SR-22?

An FR-44 follows a DUI and requires higher liability limits than an SR-22, which is used for other violations. Both are filings, not policies; the limits are set by statute and change, so a licensed agent confirms the figures for your case.

I do not own a car. Can I still get an FR-44 filing?

Yes. A non-owner operator policy carries the FR-44 for someone who drives but has no vehicle titled to them, and it is often the least expensive way to meet the requirement.

Will the FR-44 itself raise my premium?

The DUI behind it matters far more than the form. We place with carriers that accept records with a conviction and quote more than one, so the figure is in front of you.

How fast can an FR-44 be filed?

The carrier files it once the policy is bound. If a licence-reinstatement deadline is on you, call the office first and we will tell you exactly what we need and how fast it can move.
